Board Encourages The Identification Of Students With Their Heritage Through Educational Visits

The territorial delegates in Jaén for Education and Sports, Antonio Sutil, and Culture and Historical Heritage, Jesús Estrella, have valued the promotion of the identification of students with their heritage through educational visits.

This has been pointed out this Wednesday at the Cástulo Archaeological Ensemble, in Linares, where, together with its director, Marcelo Castro, they have received students from the Europa school in the first school group that takes up the ‘Cástulo Educa’ program .

It is a proposal by the Junta de Andalucía to bring history closer to the little ones who had been paralyzed by the health crisis of covid-19. In total, 55 minors between the ages of ten and twelve who study the third cycle of Primary have attended .

Sutil has highlighted that the regional government, and the Ministry of Education in particular, gives “special relevance to the application of a didactic methodology that entails significant learning for students” and “this program promoted by Culture is a clear example of this type of teaching “.

In this line, referred to the expansion of the offer of educational programs for the academic year 2021-2022 . “One of the great challenges of our education is to adapt it to the enormous challenges of a global society in constant transformation, so we must give our children and young people the tools to face it and this type of program is an example of the way to follow, “he said.

For his part, Estrella has specified that this visit is the first of the 30 planned until December 17 and has stressed that the activities , both those that take place in Cástulo and in the Archaeological Museum of Linares, expressly contemplate compliance with the prevention measures against the pandemic recommended by health authorities.

“Once the toughest moments of the health crisis have been overcome, the Cástulo Archaeological Complex once again meets the school public through the Cástulo Educa program, turning our cultural assets into a didactic resource available to all educational centers in the province”, has explained.

The territorial delegate of Culture has also pointed out that this approach of the schoolchildren to both enclaves, extended throughout their educational itinerary, contributes to the dissemination of the historical heritage assets that are kept in the Archaeological Ensemble of Cástulo, pointing out that, “In the long term, it seeks to strengthen the identification of citizens with our institution.”

In this sense, they have communicated that, as a result of the collaboration between the departments of Education and Sports and Culture and Historical Heritage, through the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, the experimental project Artistas en el Aula will also be launched. An initiative that will allow new forms of integration of flamenco, plastic arts, dance, theater, cinema and creative writing in educational centers.

The activities for each group will have specific content , according to their level in the educational curriculum from Infant to Baccalaureate. In all cases, they will begin with a visit and first contact with the group in their classroom, agreeing with each center the preparation of their subsequent visit to the city of Cástulo and the Archaeological Museum of Linares.
