CEOE Values The Cultural And Historical Importance Of Camino De Santiago
The CEOE president, Antonio Garamendi, recently visited the Jaca Cathedral and the San Juan de la Peña Monastery, accompanied by the CEOE Aragón presidents, Ricardo Mur; and CEOS-CEPYME Huesca, José Fernando Luna, within the framework of the initiative El Camino de la Empresas 2021, which is being developed by the business confederation coinciding with the Xacobeo Year and which values the cultural and historical importance of the Camino de Santiago and its extraordinary economic, business and social impact.
The Way of Companies 2021 includes events in the eight autonomous communities through which the so-called French Way runs: Navarra, La Rioja, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Castilla y León, Galicia and Aragón. In this case, it has focused on these two great references of the Romanesque and the history of Aragon on behalf of the set of 16 municipalities, which runs this pilgrimage route in La Jacetania and Cinco Villas.
The day has also reserved time for a meeting between the CEOE president and his regional and provincial counterparts with business representatives from the area, above all, focused on the Hospitality and Tourism sector and, especially, linked to the Camino.
In addition to the importance of the route for the sector in Aragon, Antonio Garamendi has been able to know first-hand the situation, impressions and needs of the sector, severely affected by the activity restrictions associated with the pandemic, but which has been able to achieve a record number of visitors this summer and that is committed to excellence, with high quality services and products, from inland Spain, as explained by CEOE Aragón.
The meeting was attended by, among others, José Luis Yzuel, president of the Business Confederation of Hospitality of Spain; Carmelo Bosque, president of the Huesca Hospitality Association, Anabel Costas, vice president of the Provincial Hospitality and Tourism Association; together with various authorities headed by the mayor of Jaca, Juan Manuel Ramón, and the Deputy Government Delegate, Silvia Salazar.
